Here are some quick answers to some quick questions about the Mount Vernon United Methodist Church (MVUMC). If your question isn't answered here, feel free to contact us for more information!
Frequently Asked Questions
When are the worship services?
As of May 30, the church has switched to summer service times. You may enjoy one of two services (or both)! A more contemporary praise-style service takes place at 8:30 AM, and a more traditional worship service begins at 10:00 AM.
Where are the restrooms located?
One unisex restroom is located near the new elevator on the upper level. Main restrooms are located in the west hall of the education wing. (As you leave the sanctuary, exit to the right. At the bottom of the stairs, turn left and follow signage the appropriate restroom. A family restroom with a changing table is available as well.)
When and where does Sunday School take place?
Children's Sunday School begins by gathering in the sanctuary at 9:45 AM. Children are dismissed from the sanctuary to their classrooms, accompanied by their teacher and shepherd.
Are there Adult Sunday School classes?
The Adult Forum class (current issues and concerns for our time) meets in the Parlor directly behind the sanctuary. Chapel Class (traditional Bible study) meets in the classroom next to the Parlor, behind the Kitchenette. Upper Room Class (book study) meets in the room adjacent to the Nursery.
Where is the nursery located?
The nursery is on the upper level of the education wing. (Follow directions for restrooms, but pass them and turn left at the end of the hall. The nursery is on the left side at the end of this hall.)
When is childcare available?
The nursery is staffed during both (8:30 AM and 11:00 AM) services.
What should I wear for worship?
Services at Mount Vernon United Methodist are casual. Some prefer to dress up, some dress down, and most of us fall in the middle. Come as you are!
